End of week 4 – January 2018

I’ve failed! But let me try and justify it. This month, we’ve fortunately not had to pay for both a mortgage and rent and only one set of bills and council tax which has left me feeling absolutely ballin’. After quite a bad experience mid this week, I decided that I didn’t want to count the pennies when I got paid and decided to just make myself happy instead. It turns out that doing what I wanted to do and not caring, didn’t actually bankrupt me. While I did spend…

End of week 3 – January 2018

UH OH!! Things have taken a tiny turn for the worse this week. While I’ve not had to pay for two rents (YAY!!) I still very much wanted to keep the scrimping up because it’s going to form the habits I need when we end up signing the contract for the new new house, which I suspect will be a lot sooner rather than later. Also, in reality, I’ve not saved myself any money and instead of paying 2 x rent, now need to pay for another £400+ survey to be completed…

End of week 2 – January 2018

I did it! I was extra scrimpy this week and now I’m back on track! Nothing special was going on this week and so I wasn’t surprised by any additional costs. Here is an overview of what I spent and on what: £9.85 – On food and drink. That’s seriously it. The 85p was from the soy milk I picked up in tesco so I can have my cheeky soy latte in a morning at work. £5 I sent to mine and Rick’s joined account and got all of the…

End of Week 1 – January 2018

THIS IS WAY HARDER THAN I THOUGHT. So, here is a list of all of my outgoings this week, slightly frustrated that a few of them are one offs and so it ended up pushing me over my £20 per week budget.   I forgot to buy train tickets to see one of my besties Jordan Fearnley. I definitely thought I’d done it before Christmas butttt NOPE. Unfortunately, in an attempt to look after the pennies I’ve had to buy specific advanced single tickets which means that we get a limited…

Week 1 – It Begins

SO! I’ve taken note of all my bank accounts, how much money is in there and what direct debits/standing orders are active and what is going out when! This will make it a lot easier to work out what is going where rather than never checking my statements because I’m terrified of what I might find. I’ve installed an app called MoneyLover which I’ve got installed on Android, not sure whether it’s available for iOS but you can also use this app in-browser (I use Chrome) so there’s always an…

Happy New Year

I wonder how many blog posts today are going to have that exact title?! WELL SO DOES MINE 🙂 I love the new year, it’s a perfect time to get all motivated and make loads of promises to yourself some of which you will keep and feel great for and others will be on the list next year too (#loseweight). This is just a short post on a few things I’d like to get done in 2018 and hopefully at the end of the year I can revisit this post…
